Eggs, Lemons and losing 6kg ๐Ÿ˜Ž

One of the worse things of my pregnancy is the weight gain. I have been already on the heavier side of the scale when I was single and getting the extra kilos with getting pregnant was a fear I dreaded. This is in fact one of the reasons why I opted not to get pregnant immediately. So now that that is over and done, its now time to shed the remnants of the battle and begin another struggle for greatness. Sigh. ๐Ÿ˜“
So I have been trying to cut down with food. Crash dieting was never my style but the following video looked promising and easy. Also, I needed a jump start-knowing that I am way over my pre-pregnancy weight.

This egg diet really helped me with the intake. Although I craved bad for steak on Day 5, I was able to finish it with very mininal cheats and ended losing 5-6kgs. I was also taking coffee in the morning. And my tea is always sweetened with the honey-lemon-ginger concoction that my friend, Faith, taught me.

Honey-Lemon-Ginger Concoction

What I want share is–there are strict ways to kill happiness but no one should ever stop you from eating what you want except yourself. Let me also add that my good of a husband never forced me to lose weight. He loved me nonetheless and supported me with every egg and ice cream I swallow. That helped me stay happy and determined to finish what I started. I know that what I’m doing is only because I want to. ๐Ÿ˜„

With my usual house chores I was able to gain some confidence that I can go lose some more. So I started with Zumba…which deserves its own blog entry. ๐Ÿ˜ Stay tuned!

The social monkeys ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

This experiment showed how people can be easily pressured into behaving. I am not one of most that stay silent in an unusual situation but I can’t say I would not stand up like the first girl. I realized that being in an awkward position is a fear most humans succumb to. The comfortability of being “with the crowd” gives us a sense of security, far from ridicule that we think from others, yet mostly from ourselves. ๐Ÿ‘ค๐Ÿ‘ฅ๐Ÿ—ฃ

McDonalds’ Mc Arabia Chicken

Living in Saudi Arabia has its perks and one of them is the McDonalds’ McArabia Chicken that I miss so much whenever I eat McDo in the Philippines. ๐Ÿ˜„

This tasty wrap is made out of deliciously baked flat bread which beautifully compliment  the chicken patties, vegetables and sauces it comes with. ๐ŸŒฏ๐ŸŒฏ๐ŸŒฏ

If you’re living in any Arab Country (although I’m not sure if this is also available in the rest of the GCC), don’t miss this special treat only for us lucky ones. I’m sure you’ll love it like we do. I know my sister dreams about this sandwich sometimes. Hehehe.. ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†

Possible reasons why I cry at weddings ๐Ÿ˜ญ

It is He who created you from one soul and created from it its mate that he might dwell in security with her. And when he covers her, she carries a light burden and continues therein. And when it becomes heavy, they both invoke Allah , their Lord, “If You should give us a good [child], we will surely be among the grateful.” 7:189

๐Ÿ˜ญ

  • Happiness for the girl who finally ends her search for a man who’ll put a “ring” on it. ๐Ÿ’
  • Happiness for the sneaky guy who finally decided to end it all. ๐Ÿ˜
  • Anxiety for the next few days of “What?” “Why?” “How?” “How come?” “Since when? and the dreaded “Are you serious?” ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜ซ๐Ÿ˜ฑ
  • Fear of the imminent misunderstandings that the couple will face for years and years and years…
  • Happiness for the infinite blessings that God bestowed on them starting with this part of destiny that He finally fulfilled. Alhamdulillah. All praises are due to Allah for this wonderful beginning.

May Allah swt guide your marriage and keep you in the straight path inshaAllah.

Chicken-Fajita Pasta

My husband and I, like any other young professional couples, have very little knowledge about cooking. If not for basic filipino dishes, youtube, and “simpleng prito prito” I don’t think we would’ve survived ๐Ÿ˜†. But thanks to facebook and the rest of the world willing to share simple life hacks, we were introduced to this very simple but tasty recipe. Yet, as Filipinos that we are, and as a cheating prick that I am, I found a way to cook it in a way that will satisfy our tastebuds.

This is our take to that Tasty recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 1pc. Green Bell Pepper
  • 1pc. Red Bell Pepper
  • 1pc. Yellow Bell Pepper
  • Acceptable amount of sliced white onions
  • Penne pasta (or any available pasta in your pantry)
  • Around 2 chicken breasts sliced in small portions
  • 5cups of milk or more (We used fresh milk. Kailangan mag-ingat kasi baka matuyo masyado without cooking the pasta to Al dente.)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Half of a regular chicken cube
  • Some curry powder (instead of cumin kasi ayokong bumili ng cumin powder just for this recipe)
  • Generous amount of cheese (we used cheddar, mozarella, parmesan just because we have them in our kitchen)๐Ÿง€๐Ÿง€๐Ÿง€.

Procedure:

  1. We tried to cook this like how it was instucted but we found the milk evaporating fast. Instead of cooking the pasta within 8-10mins as per manufacturers instructions, we were able to reach an edible pasta at around 15mins ๐Ÿ˜“. So when we prepared it again after 2 days (it was just that good), we cooked the pasta in 5cups of milk plus 2cups of water separately.
  2. Cook chicken in thin oil just until its cooked. What is great with this recipe is you can also use left overs like fried or grilled chicken left overs. It’s really according to your taste. (Pero syempre di pwede yung mga nasabawang chicken ulam) ๐Ÿ˜.
  3. Sautรจ the rest of the ingredients as shown in the video.
  4. Pour the milk-pasta mixture to the pot of vegetables and mix it until you’re sure that pasta is already cooked.
  5. Add cheeses until sauce is creamy.
  6. Serve and enjoy!! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Starting out…

It has been 3 months since I stopped working as a professional nurse and settled to stay at home and focus on taking care of my daughter and husband. I would not realize that time passed if not for the calendar changing leaves. And with each day waking up to a new something, I begin to discover the simple and happy life at home. This is my start up. I decided to add a wordpress account to my daily  chores so I can document my progress and possibly share treasures that I happen to dig in the internet along the way. Hope you’ll find something useful. Salam!! ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿผ
